There has been a case of whooping cough reported in the school. Please note the following information received from Metropolitan Communicable Disease Control:
- Whooping cough is still around and coughing children need to see a GP for review and a throat swab.
- For cases of whooping cough the child cannot come back to school until they have completed 5 full days of the right antibiotic.
- Those who don’t take the antibiotic need to be away from school for 3 weeks.
- Cases of pertussis (whooping cough) may cough for up to 100 days but are NOT infectious after the 5 days of antibiotics.
