Subiaco Primary School P&C is very excited to be hosting a series of Positive Parenting Workshops, presented by acclaimed Social Psychologist and Academic Helen Street. Three workshops will be held, as follows:
- Life Overload – Tuesday July 30th 6:30pm-8pm – FINISHED
Dealing with the stress and overload of being a parent in modern society. This session will cover an explanation of how and why we get overloaded and examine how we can address overload while still staying true to our selves and our busy lives. - Is My Child Ok? – Tuesday August 6th 6:30pm-8pm
Every child is unique. This session will examine the distinction between unusual, unique, unhealthy and healthy behaviours. Parents will
be given some easy pointers on when and when not to be concerned. We will also explore what to do when support is needed. - Motivation for Life Long Learning – Tuesday August 13th 6:30pm-8pm
This final session will examine the use and misuse of rewards to motivate children – from stickers to pocket money, rewards motivate children to get more rewards but reduce intrinsic motivation. We look at alternative options to develop autonomy and a love of learning.
