- Life Overload – Tuesday July 30th 6:30pm-8pm – FINISHED
Dealing with the stress and overload of being a parent in modern society. This session will cover an explanation of how and why we get overloaded and examine how we can address overload while still staying true to our selves and our busy lives.
- Is My Child Ok? – Tuesday August 6th 6:30pm-8pm
Every child is unique. This session will examine the distinction between unusual, unique, unhealthy and healthy behaviours. Parents will
be given some easy pointers on when and when not to be concerned. We will also explore what to do when support is needed.
- Motivation for Life Long Learning – Tuesday August 13th 6:30pm-8pm
This final session will examine the use and misuse of rewards to motivate children – from stickers to pocket money, rewards motivate children to get more rewards but reduce intrinsic motivation. We look at alternative options to develop autonomy and a love of learning.

Social psychologist, Dr Helen Street has presented her work in both academic journals and in the popular media. Her presentations have been endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and ‘brown eyes blue eyes’ creator Jane Elliott, among many others. Helen is an adjunct research consultant for the health department of WA’s Centre for Clinical Interventions. She is co-chair for The Positive Schools confer- ences and is both an Adjunct academic and an Honorary Research Fellow at UWA. Helen is also a member of Geelong Grammar Schools research advisory board and writes educational material for the WA Association of Mental Health. Helen was the show psychologist for Channel Ten’s ‘The Circle’ from 2011 – 2012 and is now a regular feature writer for Western Teacher. Helen will feature work from her latest book ‘Life Overload’ in these three presentations.
