The annual Poetry Competition run by Alliance Française is open to students from Year 3 and up. Students will learn a set poem by heart, including the author’s name.

There are two categories:

  • Non-French background speakers
  • French background speakers

Non-French background speakers:
A panel will review video submissions and choose 20 finalists per year group, who will be invited to recite their poem at the final event on Saturday 28 June 2025, at Alliance Française de Perth (75 Broadway, Nedlands). Three winners per year group will be selected.

French background speakers:
Finalists will be selected across two groups:

  • Primary (Years 3–6)
  • Secondary (Years 7–10)

The jury will select 10 finalists from each group, with three winners chosen in each.

Poem texts and audio recordings will be available in the French Resources folder on Seesaw to help students practise.

School selections will take place in Week 2 of Term 2 for those wishing to participate.
